It’s the variety that keeps me going. From studying the world market for fishhooks to helping a West African country identify opportunities for selling more groundnuts, consulting has given me a chance to look at lots of interesting things in lots of fascinating places. Initially international marketing was the basis of my consulting work but this has broadened to improving operating performance in a soft drinks factory in Saudi Arabia or helping staff develop a five year plan for a coal mine in central Queensland, Australia. Hope the next assignments are as interesting!
Roger has spent the majority of his professional life in consulting, initially based in London and then Sydney with PA Consulting Group. He has traveled widely throughout the world (90+ countries) and spent significant time in the Middle East, Malaysia and South Africa.
He also had “proper jobs” selling farm machinery and managing the sales and marketing function for a professional training and development services company. Performance improvement across many fronts has been his focus. From banking/insurance to steelmaking, from transport to biscuit making the problem of getting people to do things differently has kept Roger busy for 25+ years.
Roger has a BA(Hons) in languages, politics and economics. He speaks French, German and a little Arabic. He has never written a book or had a paper published nor is he likely to in the future!
