A Year in the Life
By Jon Wilton-Reynolds
I have now spent over three and half years living and working within the Middle East and from a background providing support through Business Consulting Internationally since the early 90’s, I have never witnessed such change and, indeed, opportunity… as captured in the images above.
The aspirations of:
- Living and delivering a vision
- Implementing strategy
- Transforming culture
- Providing measurable performance improvement
- Achieving personal development and growth
…find ideal opportunity in this arena and I am proud to be part of making a dream come true!
Sure, I have not been responsible for the “overall success of Dubai” but I am extremely excited by the chance to be part of it and, through Quest Worldwide and the clients that we team with, I have played a small part in making it happen, I’m sure!
Quite a privilege, I guess, and one that does not make this simply “a year in the life of…” but another step along a valuable journey, business and personal.
So, with reference to this year’s journey and where it has taken me…It started in Dubai but meandered throughout the Middle East taking in Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Doha, Cairo, Luxor, Muscat and Riyadh. I was back to European roots with a short time in Barcelona, Palma and Toulouse and this was all complimented by a welcome trip to Sydney, as a retreat from the heat of the Middle East summer (50 + degrees centigrade is never, ever easy) . I hasten to add, Mr Chairman, that this was primarily business related, but apart from the long hours upon aircraft, it was all a pleasure.
And what exactly was the purpose of the journey? Well, a variety of projects is the answer… and with a variety of clients too and both leading and supporting my colleagues.
Within the range of clients I can include FMCG and Financial Services through to Government Organisations. Clearly I also had opportunity within property development and construction but as those who understand Dubai will know, that’s just a given! Within project activities I covered the full breath of Quest Worldwide delivery and even had letters of thanks from clients….and that has been my greatest reward and has made the trips worthwhile from a Client, Quest and Jon perspective. A win-win-win.
It has been a challenging and enjoyable journey this year with wide variation and most notably recognition from clients of the “great job that the Quest Team does”. It’s great to be part of it all… and I hope the enthusiasm shows… long will I enjoy the continued delivery of:
- Focusing Strategy
- Engaging People
- Driving Implementation
