The thrill of seeing people change as they awaken to alternative ways of working helps me to start each morning. Our assignments are always varied and challenging; the buzz comes from finding a solution which fits the client’s circumstances and delivers tangible results.
Richard joined Quest in 2003 having previously spent 30 years in manufacturing driving continuous improvement and change management. His clients range across industries, countries and cultures. His main focus is on accelerating operational performance by instilling a culture of continuous improvement and change management through the adoption of appropriate business excellence techniques. He is currently leading a worldwide transformation programme with TMD Friction group across 15 plants and seven languages.
From 1999 to 2003, within Kodak Europe, Richard led the adoption of the Kodak Operating System which is soundly based on the Toyota Production System into film manufacturing. Prior to Kodak, he was with Caradon plc as director of quality of the plumbing division. He led the adoption of Caradon’s change management programme, First In Service, across 15 plumbing division sites supported by Quest. Through the application of lean manufacturing, TPM, concurrent engineering and senior team coaching, success included winning the ‘Best Factory Award’ in 1996.
Richard’s early career was with Metal Box, earning his spurs and leaving in 1990 after four years as factory general manager. He gains most satisfaction from developing teams to adopt strategies that deliver exceptional results.
Richard has a BSc in Engineering Science from Reading University and is a Fellow of The Institute of Mechanical Engineers.
