Turning strategy into action
Developing a balanced strategy is often only the first step. With cohesion and understanding amongst the leadership team, the vision has to be communicated to every level of the organisation if it is to become a reality. This is a process which needs to include dialogue up and down the organisation to achieve buy-in and give meaning to the strategy. It is just as important to make decisions about what not to do during this process as it is to set the goals and priorities that you will act upon. Aligning business units and teams behind one strategy and gaining commitment from individuals turns strategic thinking into the ‘doable’ actions that deliver results.
